A Clear, Sunny Morning

The air is clear and cool.

The morning is bright-
blue sky, fresh light.
The grass is wet with dew.

It is good to be outside
in this morning.

A Man, A Cigarette, A Book, and The Moon

A man walks outside
to smoke and read a book for
a while.

He looks forward to this part of the day-
the smoking, the reading.

He is reading a book with spaceships
and intergallictic battles.

Sometimes he stops
reading then looks up at the moon.

He finishes his cigarette
and goes inside to make a sandwich.

The Custodian Has His Fun

In an empty gym,
the fitness class now
departed,
the custodian bounces a
large rubber ball across
the gym floor,
an amused smirk
on his stubbly
face.
